Tri Community Mediation is a nonprofit organization that offers mediation and conflict resolution services in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties. In order to make mediation accessible to everyone, we provide mediation at no cost to participants. We are a program of the community, by the community, and for the community. It is our mission to create a more just and peaceful Lower Eastern Shore.

In 2003 the Community Mediation Initiative (CMI) was founded as part of what would become the Bosserman Center for Conflict Resolution at Salisbury University. In 2015 we became a freestanding nonprofit organization, Tri Community Mediation, to more inclusively serve the entire Lower Shore community. Our office is located on Salisbury’s Downtown Plaza.
We are largely funded by grants and donations, and also offer fee-based conflict management trainings for organizations. Funders include: the Maryland Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO); the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore; Community Mediation Maryland; Maryland Humanities/National Endowment for the Humanities; Rural Maryland Council; the Ignatius DiNardo Foundation; Keith Campbell Foundation; Migrant Clinicians Network; Salisbury Wicomico Economic Development; Wicomico County Local Management Board; and others.

Michele has been a leading force in the community mediation movement in Maryland, co-founding Community Mediation Maryland and serving as Chair of the Board.
She has been mediating conflicts and training people in conflict resolution for more than 25 years. She has supported people from all walks of life in having tough conversations in connection with relationships, neighborhood concerns, business and workplace situations, incarcerated people making plans for release with their loved ones, family disputes, and more. She has also facilitated numerous large group discussions, addressing issues such as intra-organizational conflict, goal-setting and strategic planning, bullying, public policy, and others. Michele has designed multi-part conflict management workshop series for employees and management teams at a number of organizations. She is the mother of six children, four of whom are trained mediators.
