Basic Mediation Training
If you are interested in becoming a peacemaker in your community, Basic Mediation Training (BMT) offers community members the opportunity to learn skills that help one address their own conflicts, as well as how to support others to address their conflict and reach resolution in mediation. BMT consists of 50 hours of training in which trainees get hands-on experience in addressing conflict through role-plays, interactive activities, and feedback from high level mediators and trainers. In addition, trainees learn how to facilitate a conversation for participants in a mediation through non-judgmental reflective listening. Once trainees complete the initial training, they’ll complete an apprenticeship, giving them a chance to observe and practice with skilled, experienced mediators. This training is valued at over one thousand dollars, but is free to all community members looking to make a difference in their communities. Feel free to call the office to speak with both new and experienced mediators to learn about their experience in BMT!
